The original Palm Pre caused quite a stir when it was first announced, with many gadgets fans optimistically hoping it might prove to be a big contender to the iPhone, however the execution of the technology and the launch were lukewarm and this and the follow up Pixi never really took off.  However Palm is back in 2010 and ready to take on the big guns again with a new and improved Palm Pre Plus and Pixi Plus, hopefully having learnt from their previous mistakes.

Both the Palm Pre Plus and the Palm Pixi Plus are based on the CES webOS platform, and although at first glance the Palm Pre Plus looks pretty similar in style to the original version, a generously proportioned, vibrant touchscreen display, slide out keyboard and high performance processor are big improvements, making this gadget much easier to use and more functional.  There is also now 16GB of storage space, over double that of the original Palm Pre, and the Palm Touchstone Back Cover is all part of the package making it Touchstone Charging Doc ready right out of the box.

Palm Pre Plus

With the Pixi Plus, Palm tackles that annoying weakness from the original by integrating Wi-Fi support as standard, and the webOS also allows support for up to 5 other Wi-Fi devices so you will not have to purchase any additional software.

Both the Palm Pre Plus and the Palm Pixi Plus are now competitive smartphones, and the main difference between the two handsets is the features and the price (the Palm Pixi Plus is cheaper), so all you will have to do is decide whether you like Palm, iPhone or Android best and then go out and buy a top of the line smartphone.
