Lenovo proudly announced its first professional grade ultraportable Netbook at The Consumer Electronics Show held at California in January this year- ‘the Lenovo Thinkpad Jx100e’. With it the Chinese IT giant is expecting to gain a significant foothold in the Netbook segment of laptops.

The x100e demands respect as it is a robust machine with ultra cool design and sound features. The basic version of x100e packs an AMD Athlon Neo Processor and a 2 GB RAM. Also, it embeds an ATI RADEON Graphics chipset for die-hard gamers. A roomy 320 GB Hard Disk drive lets you store loads of movies, songs, images and data. Although alternative faster processors such as Dual-Core Neo x2 and Turion x2 are also offered in different versions but that would obviously demand bigger bucks.

Lenovo Thinkpad x100e

A key strength of this Netbook is its nice typing capabilities. The ISO full sized spill-resistant classic black keyboard is mounted on a solid chassis having slightly curved keys along with a TrackPoint pointing stick. It is evident that Lenovo has taken great care to ensure that the x100e provides an awesome typing experience. A touchpad and mouse buttons also make their presence felt. It seems that the company decided to compromise with the screen size rather than the keyboard, processor or the graphics chipset. The screen measures 11.1 inch which is smaller as compared to many modern day Netbooks. In fact, even the Ideapads possess larger screens. Approximately 3.2 lbs is what x100e weighs. The connectivity options include 3 USB ports, 4-in-1 Media Card Reader, built-in Gigabit Ethernet Card , Wi-Fi access, Bluetooth and 3G.

The Lenovo x100e is quite affordable as it is priced at $500. The services offered by Lenovo also add to its definition of an enterprise Netbook such as corporate OS support, Think Vantage Suite, one year warranty and data recovery services too. Let’s hope that Lenovo succeeds in making a significant niche in the Netbook market with its latest Thinkpad.
