iPad Tablet | Apple’s new eBook and Netbook Gadget

Posted by admin On January - 29 - 2010

The iPad has officially been released by Apple, a hybrid between an eBook reader by rivals of Amazon’s Kindle, and a seemingly similar interface from the respects of Apple’s own iPhone and iPod Touch, and not surprisingly, they shocked speculators of the name of this coveted gadget. With bloggers and the media alike proposing this new tablet from Apple to be called from the iTablet, to the iSlate, they have decided to call it the iPad. Ironically, a Madtv skit from years ago depict the ”iPad”, years before it has been released as a spoof of MaxiPads. The first versions of the iPad will be released  in March, and the cheapest one, being $499 for the 16GB version, and $100 per upgrade in disk space. On the other hand the 3G version, which will run on a wireless carrier, sports a heftier price at $629 and $100 increase per upgrade.

iPad Keyboard Dock

The Keyboard Dock is a new accessory designed by Apple to create a portable computer, where you can type on a real keyboard instead of a virtual. Again, it is another accessory people will buy on top of the inflated price of the Ipad. The iPad is basically a blown up Ipod Touch or iPhone, and with the built in OS system, it means there will be no Flash videos or games, no multitasking, and surprisingly no camera. You can enjoy all the features of the App Store, though and this is positive, as you can easily sync your already media full of games and apps ready for your Ipad.
iBook is the new application by Apple that is designed to be a simple and usable eBook Reader, similar to the Sony eReader and the Amazon Kindle. It is a modern and simple design, and certainly is a great virtual book reader software. Like the App Store, you are one click away from a variety of books.
Overall, the iPad is a stunning piece of innovation by Apple, but the lacking capabilities of the iPhone OS will limit its development of a fully compatible and usable device, such as no flash, multitasking, camera, etc.

  1. I’ve loved Apple products for some time, they produce products that is aesthetically gorgeous while working like a charm. That can’t be said about alot of companies, it’s typically one or the other. Companies don’t usually take aesthetics seriously like Apple. With me stating that I’ve got to say that I’m very excited about the upcoming iSlate. One thing I question though, is it too soon? I think that this may be ahead of its time. What do you think?
