Samsung has jumped one step further with its series of LED TVs. This time, it’s not about the thinnest and the biggest, though it’s still one, but it’s about the new features on offer! Looks like this Korean electronics giant has vowed to be always ahead of the others with continuous new features being added up to its devices!

So we have had much LED backlighting, now get ready for the “local LED dimming”. The earlier LED TVs used to be edge-lit while this TV makes use of direct-type LED backlighting or to say “dimming”. Earlier the problem faced to direct-type LED backlighting was that it required distance to produce efficient results. It seems that Samsung has overcome this problem with its innovative technologies.

Now, coming to the difference between backlighting and dimming, the dimming technology helps in the better illumination of a scene as it intelligently dims particular sections of the TV, resulting in brighter brights and darker darks, giving a whole new realistic touch to the videos.

One thing to be kept in mind while going for a LED TV is that the so called “LED TVs” are merely LCD TVs with LED backlighting, and not a totally new species of Television!

With 0.3 inch deep, it definitely manages to compete in the “thinnest” category! It’s a 3D ready TV with a bright 240 Hz screen, providing full 1080p content. The proprietary 3D engine can convert the 2D videos into 3D in real time.

To make it more handy, it is made to work wirelessly as it comes with a companion audio/video box that communicates with the wirelessly. Frankly speaking, it does not make any sense promoting a product as “the thinnest” while bundling it with a companion box!

Since the 9000 series is an improvement upon the 8000 series, it must be costing a few bucks more! And we know that the 8000 series begins in excess of $3000, so you readers are as better equipped as anybody else to guess the price!
